 THE OUTSIDERS 1960s Webquest

PART 1

1. Open a Google Doc and put your heading in the top right corner:  Name, period, and date
   
2. Save your document as "1960s Webquest."  **See chart below**
   
3. A madras is a style of a shirt commonly worn by men during the 1960s.  Use Google Search engine to search for an image of a madras shirt.  Select any image, copy and paste into your Google Doc.    
4. A very popular hairstyle among men in the 50s and 60s was the pompadour. Use Google Search Engine to search for an image of ‘men’s pompadour.’    Copy and paste an example of this hairstyle into your Word document. 
   
5. On the MMS library page, click on “Middle School Resources” link found on the left side of the page. Click on the Grolier Book link. Search for Paul Newman. Paste a picture in your Google Doc and write a brief (3 sentence) description of who he was and what he did.  Write sentences of your own.
   
6. Use the following links to find pictures of a Corvair and a Corvette. Paste and label each picture type of car. http://www.corvair.org/ and http://auto.howstuffworks.com/1960s-corvettes-channel.htm

1. List 5 bands that were popular during the early to mid-1960’s.


2. List 5 popular T.V. shows from the 1960’s.


3. Write the names of the four presidents in the 1960’s.


4. Find the prices of 6 commonly used items in the 1960’s.


5. List five popular toys from the 1960’s.


6. Read about Greasers and write a brief summary (at least 3 sentences) of the 1950's/1960’s Greaser
   subculture.


7. Define 'gang' in at least four sentences.
   
8. Describe at least three motivations to join a gang. 


9. List 3 major world events from the 1960's.
