Marshall Middle School
Where ‘I’ Make a Difference
Marshall Middle School’s motto, “Marshall Middle School Where ‘I’ Make a Difference,” embodies the mission and beliefs of the school community. Students, staff, and parents know that each person has a responsibility to contribute to making Marshall Middle a place where everyone is able to learn and grow. Our school provides a quality education to students in the sixth, seventh, and eighth grades. It is one of three middle schools in the North Allegheny School District, located approximately 15 miles north of the city of Pittsburgh. Serving the municipalities of Bradford Woods Borough, Franklin Park Borough, Marshall Township, and the town of McCandless, it shares a 92.79 acre site with Marshall Elementary School, one of its feeder schools.Marshall Middle opened its doors to students in 1993. It was built to alleviate overcrowded conditions in the District’s other two middle schools. During the planning stages of construction, teacher input was gathered to determine the best use of space allowing the middle school philosophy to be implemented effectively. As a result, the structure of the building permits students to be grouped together by grade levels and teams and provides planning space for faculty members. Most academic classrooms are located on the second floor, with special area classrooms, offices, cafeteria, gymnasium, auditorium, and library on the first floor. The facility occupies 155,766 square feet and has a student capacity of 897.Our school has a prestigious history. Since its founding, outstanding students, teachers, curriculum, and programs set Marshall Middle School apart from other middle schools. Students have honored the school with achievements and awards too numerous to mention. Faculty members have also received a variety of awards. In 1999, Marshall Middle School earned national recognition when it was awarded the Presidential Secondary National Blue Ribbon Award. In 2002, it was honored to receive the Don Eichhorn Award for Outstanding Middle School in Pennsylvania. Each year emphasis is placed on cultivating an environment that values members of the school community and increasing student success. Assisting students to develop an attitude of respect for self, others, and lifelong learning contributes to the positive learning environment experienced by all.
