• PLEASE SCROLL TO BOTTOM OF PAGE FOR NA's BEGINNING BAND WEBSITE, AND FOR LOCAL MUSIC STORE CONTACTS

We ask that all students have the following items: Instrument in Good working condition (see below), Earbuds or headphones that can be used at school and at home.

As of September, students do not need a folder. They will be provided with a SmartMusic subscription and all music will be prepared from there.

Most of these items may be purchased locally. The links show below are via NA's shopping portal at amazon.com and are only to provide examples of the products indicated.

Please rent or purchase a brand name instrument from a reputable instrument dealer (not a big-box retailer). Some stores offer off-brand instruments at very tempting prices. However, you usually get what you have paid for, and typically the instrument will not play well and your child can struggle. It may be very difficult to produce a good sound and local repair shops may refuse to repair (because parts are not available).

** MMS has enough bass clarinets, tenor saxophones, baritone saxophones, bassoons, and tubas to maintain a well-balanced band at school. Students who play these instruments will share them with students in other bands, so they must have their own mouthpiece (+reeds) to use at school.

*** If you play horn or euphonium and do not have one to practice on at home, you might be able to take one home and leave it there. This will be determined (based on how many students need instruments) after the 2nd week of school.
