The 6th Grade Chorus meet every other day in small groups to develop the vocal skills and independent musicianship necessary to excel in ensemble performance. Becoming a productive member of the ensemble is a focus at this level. Vocal technique is taught through a scaffolding approach of relaxation, posture, breathing, embouchure, diction, and expression. Musicianship is taught through Gordon rhythm syllables and solfege. Concert repertoire is presented through "comprehensive musicianship through performance" plan.
The 7th Grade Chorus consists of seventh grade students who meet in small groups every other day to further their choral and musicianship skills. Developing students as independent, confident singers and musicians becomes a focus at this level. Instruction to address the changing voice is vital with this group of singers. Three-part concert repertoire is taught through a "comprehensive musicianship through performance" approach.Chorus SyllabusThis will provide information about the course, policies, requirements, and concert information.
