Exploration of communication, engineering and manufacturing systems provide the learner with opportunities to identify specific components of each system.Students produce engineering drawings using traditional and computer aided methods. These drawings are then utilized as the student learns to use hand tools and basic mechanical methods to transform raw materials into finished products.7th Grade Technology EducationThe seventh grade technology class is a 6 week course which continues the study of engineering communication systems and manufacturing processes, but with an emphasis on problem solving. Students utilize a variety of power tools to construct products and participate in problem solving activities. Instruction in the safe and proper use of hand and power tools is an important component of the class. These tools are utilized for cutting, forming, and bending a variety of materials including wood, metal, and plastic.8th Grade Technology EducationThe eighth grade technology class is a 12 week course in which students study manufacturing, product design and development, cost analysis, and marketing principles. Engineering drawings are produced and cost analyses are generated using spreadsheets. Methods of marketing are used to study the free enterprise system. Calculations, drawings, and designs are generated using both traditional and computer aided methods. In the manufacturing lab, students set up and run a manufacturing facility to mass produce the product that they have engineered. This is accomplished through cooperative learning work cells. Emphasis is placed on machine and power tool safty, quality control, production processes, evaluation of feedback, recognition of technological problems, and developing alternative solutions.District Activities I Sponsor/Coach: Technology Student Association (TSA)Education:Bachelor of Science in Education - Technology Education- California University of PA 2008.Master of Education - Technology Education - California University of PA 2010.
