• Frequently Asked Tiger Thon Questions -

    What is Tiger Thon?
Tiger Thon is a completely student-planned and student-run mini-dance marathon.  Their advisor - Ms. Volpe - does things like create FAQ pages and guides the kids when they have questions or want advice.

I have a question. Who should get this email?
On the left side, you'll see "Committe Contacts."  Choose the area that you think most closely will get your question answered - and if it is the wrong person, s/he will forward it to the correct student. (If you don't get an answer - email Ms. Volpe who will get the question to the appropriate person).

Wait - how old do these kids need to be to attend the dance?
All ages. Generally, grades 9-12 dance the entire time.  Middle school students often go between dancing and hanging out.  Elementary students (and younger!) can dance (and it is super cute when they do) - but they are usually running around doing activities.  (We have crafts and nail painting and a Nerf Gun room and human-sized Hungry Hungry Hippo.).  We do ask that parents of our younger tigers (elementary and younger) stay with their kids.  We do not charge parents who are staying with their children (unless you want to pay! We certainly will not stop you!!!)

    How safe is this event?
We have hired a nurse and McCandless police to ensure the safety of our students and families.  We have never had a problem but we are prepared in case we do.

Who gets the profits from this dance?
The students decide who will get the proceeds from the night - but the intention is always to fight the cancer that impacts the lives of their peers.  This year, like last year, they are going local - dividing the money between Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh and Pennies From Heaven.

Pennies From Heaven is a local group founded and run by the amazing North Allegheny Perry family.  When their son was hospitalized and fighting his cancer, they saw too many children left alone in their rooms because parents couldn't miss work and couldn't leave other children unattended at home.  The Perrys run Pennies From Heaven so that children don't have to fight cancer without their parents by their side.

The tickets are $25. What does that include?
The $25 is admission to the dance and a t-shirt while supplies last.  (Students should wear their shirt to the dance as the ticket).  We don't have a charge for the activities that we have, but we will have donation boxes out for those who wish to help the cause.

We will have so much food for sale, and we have auction baskets that the students have created to auction off.  Of course we want you and your children to spend generously this evening.

I want to make a donation. How can I do this?
There are two ways - either online by going to the CHP site - https://www.givetochildrens.org/TigerThon or you can send a check to NASH Attention Tiger Thon - 10375 Perry Hwy, Wexford, PA  15090
