Peebles Elementary School

Welcome to Second Grade at Peebles! Together we are going to have a great year! In this letter you will find some introductory information that will assist you and your child in making a smooth transition into second grade. Also, you will find a copy of our daily schedule on Blackboard under class information and please complete the survey about your child at the bottom of my welcome page.  I hope you find it helpful.

Curriculum Night:

Homework Policy & Assignment Book:

Each night your child will bring home their Peebles Homework folder and their assignment book. Please be sure to go through all papers every evening and empty the take home side daily. I require my students to write their assignments daily, even if they have no homework. There may be important test dates or events listed in it. The teachers will model writing the assignments on a poster and your child is required to copy the information. It will be written in class and reviewed at the end of the day.   Please review and sign the assignment book on a ni
ghtly basis. Homework will be given usually Monday through Thursday and occasionally on Fridays. This nightly routine will make turning in homework each morning quick and easy for your child.

Recess:

The children will be outside for recess unless it is raining or extremely cold. Please dress your child to go outside, despite weather conditions that morning. Thirty minutes of recess can be a long time if your child is not dressed appropriately. Also, please put your child’s name in all of their jackets and accessories to avoid confusion when it’s time to get ready to go outside.  

Bus & Parent Pick Up Procedures:  

Your child will be sent home on the bus daily unless we have a parental note stating otherwise. Please CALL THE OFFICE if you plan on picking up your child that day and forgot to send a note. If your child is picked up routinely, one note can be kept on file in the office, stating the days of pick up per week and length of period.

Integrated Arts schedule rotates weekly between Art, Music, and P.E.
