    About the Principal

Mr. Deramo began his career in administration in the West Mifflin Area School District, serving as the Middle School Assistant Principal, Homeville Elementary School Principal, and the Middle School Principal. During his tenure at West Mifflin, Mr. Deramo increased reading proficiency scores by over 30%. In October 2009, Mr. Deramo was hired by the South Fayette Township School District as the Intermediate School Principal (Grades 3-5) and then the Middle School Principal in 2011. Mr. Deramo ensured that the school’s vision, mission, values, and beliefs assisted in the decision making that influenced the culture of the building. In spring 2016, under Mr. Deramo’s leadership, South Fayette Middle School was named a PAMLE Don Eichhorn Schools to Watch Recognition Recipient and they received the Pittsburgh Business Times Distinguished Academic Achievement Award.

Mr. Deramo most recently served as the Assistant Superintendent for the South Fayette Township School District. In this role, Mr. Deramo assisted with establishing educational goals for the District that foster innovation and educational excellence.

Mr. Deramo received a Bachelor of the Arts degree in Sociology, a Master of Education Degree, PA Principal Certification and a Superintendent Letter of Eligibility from the University of Pittsburgh. He is currently working on his doctorate at Point Park University.

Mr. Deramo has a passion for education. He was appointed to his Assistant Superintendent position at one of the highest performing school districts in the region and is grateful for that experience. However, Mr. Deramo clearly articulated how much he misses the day-to-day interactions with students and now knows that is his "sweet spot" as a leader.
