Birthdays- We will sing to your child to acknowledge their special day.  You may send in a treat, but it must be non-edible.  Summer birthdays may choose a date.  They tend to pick “half birthdays”.

You do NOT need to send a treat at all.  We will still sing and celebrate!

Standardized Testing- The third graders will be taking the PSSA tests for ELA and Math this year.  The PSSA testing window is from May 2-13, 2022. Vacations will NOT be approved during any of these times.

Book Orders- I will send a ScholasticBook order home each month.  Please pay by check made out to Scholastic Book Club.  You may also order the books online.  Our classroom code is GYNW9.

Class Meetings/ BullyPrevention- Our class will meet once a week to discuss school wide themes, using the Olweus Bully Prevention Program and the Second Step Program.  We also discuss any issues that arise throughout the year.

Star of the Week- Each child will have a week to be our star student.  I will send a letter home explaining the pictures that they should include on their poster. The students will share their poster with the class.  Then it will be on display in our classroom for a week.   If you have any questions, let me know.

Materials- Each student should have an accordion folder with  5 sections.

Please label them: Homework, Science/Social Studies, Math, ELA,  and Keep at Home.

Homework- You should expect homework Monday through Thursday.  The guideline for 3rd grade is about 30 minutes a night.  Please be sure to check Blackboard each night for your child’s assignments and for upcoming tests as well.  They should be studying/practicing each night.  Please let me know if the homework is taking too long.
