Dr. Lee Hedderman

Dr. Hedderman is absolutely thrilled and honored that his career has led him to a school district of such caliber, innovation, and diversity as North Allegheny! He has the pleasure of teaching Honors French II and Honors French III at NAI as well as French I at MMS. He received a Bachelor of Science in French Education and a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish from Clarion University as well as a Master of Science in Education in Reading and Language Arts from Duquesne University where he also obtained certification as a Reading Specialist and Supervisor of Curriculum and Instruction. Additionally, he holds certifications in Secondary English and as an ESL Program Specialist. In 2019, Dr. Hedderman completed his Doctor of Education degree with a concentration in Language, Literacy, and Culture from the University of Pittsburgh. His research interests principally involve the implementation of innovative instruction in the classroom to foster student language acquisition through engagement and authenticity. Before teaching at North Allegheny, Dr. Hedderman began his career at Apollo-Ridge School District in Spring Church, PA for three years followed by Riverview School District in Oakmont, PA for five years.
Dr. Hedderman enjoys traveling, meeting new people from all over the world, and learning more about himself as he discovers others' various cultures and belief systems. Throughout his undergraduate work with a double major in French and Spanish, he was fortunate enough to study abroad on three occasions in France, Québec, and Ecuador. As a world language educator, he strives to implement such authenticity of linguistic and cultural immersion into his classroom for a student and learning-centered environment.
