• The elementary band program in the North Allegheny School District is designed for first and second year musicians in grades 4 and 5. Instruction is offered on flute, oboe, clarinet, alto saxophone, trumpet, french horn, trombone, baritone and percussion.

    There are two components in elementary band instruction; students meet in a small group 30 minute lesson weekly (or 15 minutes for an individual lesson), and also participate in a 45-minute full-band ensemble rehearsal each week.

    Throughout lessons and band rehearsals, students will learn to play their instrument with a sense of: tempo, tone quality, breath support, intonation, rhythm, pitch, harmony, articulation, and ensemble skills.
