Franklin Elementary School

Dear Parents,

After much consideration and investigation into homework, I have decided to try something new. This year, there will be very little formally assigned homework for any class your child may have in my classroom. Homework will only consist of work that is not completed during class time or it will consist of studying to prepare for upcoming tests. Homework may be assigned if work is not completed as expected in class. 

Research has not been able to demonstrate the benefit of homework on student performance. Therefore, I ask that you to do things that actually correlate with student success –  eat dinner as a family, read together, enjoy outside together, or help your child get a full night’s sleep.

Absentee Work:

Assignments will be sent home to be completed upon your child’s return. If you would like your child’s work sooner, please call the office or email me at lenglish@northallegheny.org.
