McKnight Elementary School

           I am a proud graduate of Duquesne University with a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education.   After graduating from Duquesne, my work week was split between being a day-to-day substitute and teaching at the Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium.  I taught at the zoo for a total of six years (throughout college and beyond).  Peebles Elementary became my first “home” as a classroom teacher where I taught 2nd and 3rd grade.  When I moved to McKnight, I started as a Kindergarten teacher and then moved up to fifth grade.   I have been teaching fifth grade ever since.  I completed my master's degree in 2008 at Gannon University where I studied Curriculum and Instruction.  I strive to be a lifelong learner and hope to instill this in my future students as well!

           Above all, I love teaching.  I am so fortunate to have found a career in which I can impact the life of a child.  It is my goal to help each child reach their maximum potential by providing them with the necessary resources to help engender learning.  These resources include a nurturing environment, a variety of teaching methods, and regular communication with parents and colleagues.  I look forward to developing a partnership with you this year!
