Volunteer Clearances

raised hands with the word volunteer

On April 22, 2015, the NA Board of School Directors passed a new Board Policy #916 in response to the recent legal requirements of PA Act 153.

As you know, the students of the North Allegheny School District benefit greatly from the support and contributions of our parent volunteers. Beginning with the 2015-2016 school year, parents will be required by law to have clearances on file with the District in order to function in the majority of volunteer roles. This is true for NA – and for every school district across the Commonwealth. You may also be hearing similar information if you volunteer in roles with young people at your local church or synagogue or work/volunteer with a youth sports organization. The law is intended to increase safety and security for children throughout our communities.

We are urging parents to become informed about this new requirement. The District has posted a VIDEO and detailed information HERE. We can’t thank you enough for all you have done for our students through your volunteer efforts in our schools. Please don’t let this new requirement stand in the way of your continued participation and support.
