Growth Information
The Tyler Parent Portal has been opened to include your child’s health information.
On the left column of your child's parent portal, you now have an option titled "Health". The following information is available:
- Your child’s health screening
- Height, weight, and vision screening for every child in grades K-12. BMI and BMI percentage are included for your review.
- Hearing screening - children in grades K-3, 7, and 11 are screened yearly. The date and results are listed. Testing completed for students in special education and by request of parent or teacher are also listed.
- Antes Screening – any physical exam you have provided or completed by the school doctor for this school year.
- Dental Screening – any dental screening either provided by you or completed by the school dentist for this school year.
- Scoliosis Screening – Students in grades 6-8 are screened in school each year.
- Immunization Records – The dates for your child’s immunizations are included for your review. We continue to fine-tune this section of the program in order to assure immunization compliance. Until that is completed, please ignore the compliant or status code columns.
- Medication – All prescribed medications either administered or held at school for your child are listed.
- Student Health Details – This section will be available at a future time for you to update as needed.
We hope you find this information useful. If you have any specific questions, please contact your child's school nurse.
Pennsylvania has, as a part of the School Code, mandated that every child every year have their height, weight, and vision screened. This screening includes the calculation of the child's Body Mass Index or BMI and the BMI percentile.
BMI is a weight for stature index that can be used to help determine whether the student is within a normal growth pattern, at risk for being overweight or underweight. Many factors such as sports participation or family history can influence height and weight in children. BMI should be considered a screening tool and not a definitive measure of your child's health. Your child's health care provider is the best person to evaluate these measurements.
