Types of Living Situations
*Affidavits are required for any Third-Party living situation.
Homeowner/Leaseholder: The definition of a homeowner/leaseholder is when the person registering the student(s) owns or rents the residence within the District where the student resides.
Third-Party Resident Owner/Leaseholder*: The definition of a third-party resident owner/leaseholder is when the parent/guardian and student(s) live with another person who owns or leases the residence within the District. Both the guardian(s) of the student(s) and homeowner/leaseholder will need to sign.

Both the guardians of the student(s) and responsible resident will need to sign.
-
Are documents needed when there is a split living arrangement between parents?
By law, if parents are legally separated or divorced, each parent has equal rights to access the child and his/her school records unless a court order is provided. It is the parent’s responsibility to provide the most recent court order to the school/District. Otherwise, both parents will continue to have equal access to the child and his/her school records.

What do I do if I am new to the District and only have one proof of residency?
New residents to the District have 30 days from the date the lease begins or from the closing date of the home to provide a second proof of residency.

When does Kindergarten registration take place?
Kindergarten applications open in January before the start of the next academic school year. This is a time when families can go online and complete the required forms and attach their supporting documents. Once complete, families will schedule an in-person appointment for early March at the Central Registration Office and subsequently submit their application for review.
-
Why register early for Kindergarten?
During Kindergarten registration week, when in-person appointments are held, parents/guardians will indicate their preference for AM or PM kindergarten. The building principal will assign students to AM or PM kindergarten sessions using established class-size guidelines and the preferences indicated by parents/guardians during registration. Class assignments for students requesting AM/PM classes will not be done on a first-come, first-served basis.
If the preferences for all registrations received by the end of Kindergarten Registration week cannot be accommodated in any given building, there will be a lottery drawing in that building for each session for which there is an overage of requests.
Anyone who registers after Kindergarten Registration week in March will not be included in the lottery and will be given AM/PM preference based on availability and their placement on the waitlist.
For more information visit our Kindergarten Registration website.
-
How is the lottery conducted?
The lottery is conducted before the end of the current academic year. The building principal, PFA President or designee, and one pre-kindergarten parent/guardian will be present.
- Names of all the students requesting the session in question will be randomly drawn to fill that section to the capacity determined by class-size guidelines.
- After that section is filled, names will be drawn to develop a waiting list for that section.
- Principals will maintain the waitlist and review assignments if changes in enrollment occur before the opening of school.
-
Is Kindergarten registration done at the school building?
All registration appointments are held at the Central Registration Office. We dedicate one full week in March to our Kindergarten registrations.
-
What does a typical Kindergarten day look like?

Families are responsible for arranging mid-day transportation either to or from school.
