    Essential Concepts
    :
    1. Each student is responsible for their personal and social behavior.
    2. Effective interpersonal skills (e.g., passive, assertive, aggressive behavior) are an important part of Adventure Education.
    3. Decision making, risk taking, problem solving and goal setting skills develop through Adventure education.
    4. Adventure education uses natural surroundings to provide fitness opportunities.
    5. Adventure education provides life-enhancing experiences.
     
    Key Learner Objectives:
    1. Each student is responsible for their personal and social behavior.
    Identify inherent risks in and around the climbing facility.Become familiar with equipment associated with rock climbing.Learn correct belay technique.Encourage climbers, and advise as to alternative routes.

    2. Effective interpersonal skills (e.g., passive, assertive, aggressive behavior) are an important part of Adventure Education. 
    Incorporate the concept of redundancy in each and every climbing activity.Use common terms with each climbing partner.Use effective communication skills while in climbing situations.Advise other climbers of various ways to accomplish the same problem.Incorporate a variety of climbing techniques in each climbing experience.

    3. Decision making, risk taking, problem solving and goal setting skills develop through Adventure education.
    Understand which climbing method is appropriate for a given problem.Develop trust with a belayer.Understand the skill and risk involved in various climbing situations.Use visualization before each climbing experience.
     
    4. Adventure education uses natural surroundings to provide fitness opportunities. 
    Transfer indoor skills to outdoor situations.  Become familiar with LTA club offerings.  Locate local climbing areas.
     
    5. Adventure education provides life-enhancing experiences.
    Participate in activities outside the comfort zone.Overcome problems, thought to be impossible.Obtain skills useful in any life situations.
