    KEY LEARNER OBJECTIVES: 

     

    1.  Individual activities require certain fundamental skills and techniques.

    ·     Practice and demonstrate basic and intermediate badminton skills such as forehand, backhand, clear, drop, smash, drive, and serve.

    ·     Demonstrate knowledge of strategy, scoring and rules of badminton.

    ·     Apply rules of safe play while participating in all badminton activities.

    ·     Apply proper Spirit of Play to all badminton games and activities.

     2.  Everyone can participate in individual activities at varying levels.

    ·     Demonstrate grip of racket, overhead and underhand swing.

    ·     Differentiate how and when the clear, drop and smash shot are used in game play.

    ·     Participate in badminton activities on various levels using modified games and/or equipment.

    3.      Individual activities improve personal fitness through moderate to vigorous physical   

    activities.

    ·     Participate in moderate to vigorous singles and/or doubles games.

    ·     Understand and appreciate the lifetime fitness and health benefits of badminton.

    ·     Evaluate opportunities to participate in badminton in school and community settings.

     CLASS REQUIREMENTS: 

     

    ·         The students are required to positively and actively participate in all class activities, unless they are limited by a medical condition, in which a note by a physician is required.

    ·         Students are allowed one excused absence.  After one excused absence additional activities outside of class are required to receive participation points for that day.  It must be made up within two weeks after the absence.

    ·         Wear comfortable physical education clothing and athletic shoes to every class.  No jeans.

     

    ASSESSMENTS: 

     

    ·         Participation (50%)

    Daily Participation Points:

    ·         On time for class – 1 point

    ·         Active participation and completion of warm-up activity – 1 point

    ·         Active participation throughout the entire class period - 1 point

    ·         Following instructions and safety guidelines – 1 point

    ·         Consistent effort to improve knowledge and skill – 1 point
